 Thanks to its strong orientation to innovation and its well-established bonds with reputable research centers and institutes, Wiva Group has effective command in major areas of scientific and technological know-how such as organic chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, sensor systems, optics, electronics, and mechanical engineering.

In 2017, the R&D Department added an advanced Tech Lab outfitted with cutting-edge equipment and a highly qualified staff guiding the many ongoing research projects. Working closely with certification agencies and certified laboratories, the Wiva Group inhouse Tech Lab handles all critical aspects of design, performance assessment, quality control, legal compliance, and final certification.

WIVA TECH-LAB

Wiva Group has an inhouse laboratory where tests are carried out on devices according to current standards and regulations. Its staff of highly qualified technicians perform photometric and colorimetric measurements, providing all the elements necessary for the development of lighting products and projects. Thanks to their extensive experience, laboratory personnel are able to develop products that perform to higher and higher standards, with uncompromising attention to regulatory compliance.

SAFETY AND ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY TESTING LABORATORY

The laboratory is outfitted to perform tests to verify conformity with European Directives 2014/35/EU (low voltage) and 2014/30/EU (electromagnetic compatibility) and the following standards:

  • IEC/EN 60598-1 – Lighting devices
  • IEC/EN 60598-2-1 Fixed general purpose luminaires
  • IEC/EN 60598-2-1 – Recessed luminaires
  • IEC/EN 60598-2-5 – Floodlights
  • IEC/EN 62031 – LED modules
  • IEC/EN 62560 – LED lamps for general lighting with voltage > 50V
  • IEC/EN 61347 – Lamp controlgear
  • IEC/EN 61347-2-13 – Lamp controlgear for LED modules
  • IEC 61547 – EMC immunity requirements
  • IEC 61000-3-2 – Limits for harmonic current emissions
  • IEC 61000-3-3 – Limits of voltage fluctuation and flicker

Thermal testing

We have a special temperature- and humidity-controlled laminar-flow cabinets where we perform thermal tests on all product components. Temperature data collected automatically via electronic dataloggers allow us to analyze temperature values and behavior in order to comply with regulations and standards in force and optimize products as regards heat dissipation. We analyze surface temperatures of electronic components in power supply units and surface temperatures of LED lamps.

Durability and aging testing

We perform durability and aging testing in temperature- and humidity-controlled laminar-flow cabinets. We analyze product aging behavior during both design and production. Products are monitored at preset time intervals to analyze function, mechanical performance, and aesthetics, while photometric and colorimetric analyses are carried out to assess how LED lamps age.

Electrical insulation

With the use of high voltage generators for insulation tests, earth continuity testers, and leakage current testers, we perform complete safety testing of power supply units. Measurements of insulation resistance, dielectric strength, earth continuity, and leakage currents ensure 100% certainty of the electrical safety of our products.

Electromagnetic compatibility

We have all the instruments necessary to perform electromagnetic compatibility testing. The analysis of interference, radiated and conducted emissions, and harmonics allows us to verify that the product conforms to standards and regulations in force and is able to withstand electromagnetic interference from external sources. We are able to design and improve components to ensure our products perform to the highest standards without generating electromagnetic interference.
